Feast of the Assumption of Mary
This wonderful feast is a Holy Day of Obligation and all Catholics joyfully participate in Mass for this magnificent feast. The Assumption celebrates that Mary after falling asleep was assumed body and soul into heaven. That is to say that the wonderful, unique and special love that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit share for our Blessed Mother lifted her up to heaven.
This is not the same as the Ascension of Jesus, who is the divine, who is God the Son - ascending into heaven on the power that He shares with the Father and Holy Spirit. Mary is assumed, called to heaven by the Holy Trinity, not on any power of her own.Vigil Mass on Wednesday + Aug. 14th
This beautiful feast in honor of our Blessed Mother will be celebrated the evening before at our regular 5:30pm Mass in the church, the Mass will be in English.
Feast of the Assumption + Aug. 15th
We will continue to celebrate Mary’s Feast of the Assumption with our special Holy Day schedule on Thursday, Aug. 15th.
The Schedule:
English Masses: Wed., Aug. 14 at 5:30pm
Thur., Aug. 15 at 6:30am + 8:15am + 12:10pm + 5:30pm + 7:00pm
All English Masses are in the church
Spanish Mass: Thur., Aug. 15 at 7:00pm in Cavanagh Hall
